Lecture Series
The Accident Prevention and Education Program, launched in 1997, is offered at the SARAH centers in Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Fortaleza and São Luís. The educational lectures are attended by middle school and high school students.
The lectures address topics such as the human body’s fragility and how it can be injured in traffic accidents, diving accidents, and domestic violence.
Studies conducted by the SARAH Network inform the content and administration of the prevention campaigns it promotes. The students who attend represent the age brackets that have the highest incidence of traumatic brain and spinal cord injury; approximately 50% of the patients admitted are victims of traffic accidents. Injuries caused in the home and those resultant from diving mishaps can also be prevented with knowledge and information.
The lectures are free of charge. Schools bus the students to the SARAH centers.
